Israel to select Eurovision 2021 song with National Selection

Israeli public broadcaster KAN have now announced that a National Selection will be held to select the song that representative Eden Alene will sing at Eurovision 2021.

It was previously announced that Eurovision 2020 representative Eden Alene would get her chance to perform on the Eurovision stage in 2021, however as we know, her 2020 song would not be a valid entry to the contest. In light of that, the Israeli broadcaster announced a three stage National Selection which will feature a total of 16 songs.

Israeli songwriters will be invited to submit songs into the national selection, with a committee to select the 16 competing entries. From that point, the 16 entries will be published online, with the public invited to vote for their favourite entries. A total of 8 entries will progress to the live shows, with 4 selected by the committee, and 4 selected by the public.

There will be two semi-finals featuring four songs each. Two selected songs from each semi-final will go to the final. During the semi-finals, Eden Alene may not perform the songs, but rather, the songwriters or another performer may present the song. In the final however, Eden Alene will sing the four final entries, and the winning entry will be the song performed at Eurovision 2021.

Eden Alene was set to represent Israel in 2020 with the song Feker Libi, which you can watch below:
